New Courses & Changes to Existing Courses

New course proposals and modifications to existing courses are initiated at the department level using Courseleaf, TU's online Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM) system. The college and Academic Senate review and approval process for a new course proposal or a course modification typically requires three months.

All proposals for new courses and substantive changes to existing courses must attach a completed course proposal in CIM. Please use the course proposal template and guidance document provided.

Each college has its own course review and approval process, which will include review by the college curriculum committee, and must be completed before a course proposal is reviewed by the Course Approval Reporting Committee (for undergraduate courses) or Graduate Curriculum Committee (for graduate courses), which are sub-committees of the Academic Senate.

Additionally, the approval of the Core Curriculum Reporting Committee is also required to include a new course in TU's Core Curriculum or modify an existing Core Curriculum course. As part of the approval process for Core Curriculum courses, the CIM workflow includes college-level review of Core course assessment plans.
