Admission Criteria

  • No GRE scores are required.
  • A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 is required for full admission to the program, and 2.75 is required for conditional admission. All GPA calculations for admission may be based upon the last 60 credits of undergraduate and post-baccalaureate study. See graduate admissions policies for more information.

Application Requirements 

Submit an online application, application fee and official transcripts, along with:

  • Essay: A three-page essay discussing a specific (current or future) issue of homeland security. Applicants are encouraged to think broadly regarding homeland security. Essays may address any of a range of issues that affect the physical, economic, political, or ideational wellbeing of individuals or communities — and/or the infrastructures that support such. In short, giving the complexity of homeland security, essays could address natural disasters or the effects climate change, community wellness or public health, terrorism or political extremism, policing or the role of unmanned aerial systems (drones), or any other specific issue of homeland security.
  • Resume: A current professional resume.

Additional Requirements for International Applicants

U.S. Immigration requires F1 and J1 students to be enrolled full-time with the majority of their classes taken in-person and on campus.
